Police have caught two alleged drug syndicates in Melbourne’s north and west suburbs and seized 35kg of drugs worth approximately $6 million.
Victoria Police (VicPol) said one of the syndicates had stashed meth, ketamine, MDMA and cocaine at a Williams Landing property.
North West Metro Regional Crime Squad Inspector, Geoff Owen said the bust was a major result, underscoring VicPol’s commitment to target drug traffickers and those benefiting from illicit substances.
“By removing drugs before they can be on sold, we are not only reducing the direct harm – such as overdoses – but drug fueled crimes and further criminal offending,” he said.
Police seized 11kg of MDMA, 11 kg of ketamine, 3.4 kg of cocaine and 500 grams of methamphetamine with a combined street value of around $5 million. Police also found $500,000 in cash, cannabis, steroids and a machete which were all seized.
A week ago, police also found 11kg of methamphetamine worth over $1 million at a Diamond Creek property.
At the Williams Landing property three locals and one Tarneit resident were arrested and charged with drug trafficking offences.
In Diamond Creek one man was remanded into custody with two others likely to be questioned.
“The consequences of this lifestyle are truly life-changing, with significant jail time attached to a drug trafficking charge,” Owen said.
