Protecting the Messenger: Free event

Why do journalists go to war zones? The Australian Red Cross and RMIT host a special panel to discuss the dangers of the job.

More than 1,000 journalists and news staff have perished while covering war and conflict over the past ten years.

The Australian Red Cross and RMIT are jointly holding ‘Protecting the Messenger’ – a free event about journalists in war zones.

Join Dr Fay Anderson, journalist Brett McLeod and Bev Patterson, of the Australian Red Cross, as they discuss the dangers journalists face and the protections warranted under the Geneva Conventions in armed conflict.

Where: Kaleide Theatre, RMIT City Campus, 360 Swanston Street, Melbourne (down the stairs near the Commonwealth Bank)
