Star News Group is seeking a casual sports reporter to work three days per week from its Tullamarine office.

Star News Group is the largest independent family-owned newspaper company operating in the Melbourne and Geelong region. The company’s 23 community newspapers have a combined circulation of more than 450,000 copies per week.

The successful candidate will be based in the Tullamarine office, working on Star’s nine titles across north-west Melbourne, including the Hume Star and Keilor, Taylors Lakes, Sydenham Star. Applicants should have tertiary qualification in journalism or be completing their final year of study. A detailed knowledge of a variety of sports is essential, and experience in sports journalism will be seen as a positive.

The role will involve weekend work, and the reporter will be required to work full-time to cover holidays at various stages during the year. The candidate must have their own car and a current driver’s license.
