Student awards for sports journalism

Have you produced a journalistic work relating to sport? Are you an undergraduate journalism student? This year, the Australian Sports Commission Media Awards has included in its awards list a recognition of the best reporting of sport or sport-related issues by a student.

The 2009 Australian Sports Commission Media Awards will be held in Melbourne for the first time, on Thursday 3 December in Studio 3 at Crown Casino.

The Australian Sports Commission Media Awards — now in its eighth year — celebrates analytical and insightful presentation of sport and sporting issues by journalists, broadcasters and photographers.

Nominations for this year’s awards open on Monday 24 August 2009.

This year a new category has been added to the Australian Sports Commission Media Awards, which recognises the best reporting of sport or sport-related issues by a student.

All entrants in this category must have been enrolled in an undergraduate journalism degree in Australia during the qualifying period (between 29 September 2008 and 27 September 2009) and all entries must have been either published, broadcast or part of university assessment during the qualifying period.

There are no finalists in this category and the award is only bestowed if, in the opinion of the judges, there is a single worthy recipient.
