Sub-editor position at the Bendigo Advertiser

The Bendigo Advertiser has an opening for a sub-editor.

The Bendigo Advertiser, a respected news provider since 1853, has a vacancy for a sub-editor committed to delivering real news every day to the people of central Victoria.

The successful candidate will work on a subbing desk responsible for accurate content, appealing page design and meeting deadlines.

The successful candidate will have:

* A passion for newspapers and writing

* A strong news sense

* An understanding of what a community wants and expects from its newspaper

* A sharp eye for detail and a great appetite to get things right – every time

* An understanding of media law and ethics

Previous experience with Indesign and Pongrass systems will be an advantage but not essential.

You will join an award-winning newspaper and 2011 Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers’ Association newspaper of the year nominee, a team of journalists and photographers following a great tradition of working for a newspaper that takes pride in informing and supporting its community, and become part of the Fairfax Media group.

Grading will reflect experience.

You will also have the opportunity to live in one of Australia’s greatest and fastest growing regional cities, still only just over an hour from Melbourne by train or road.
