2010 Walkley Young Journo Awards now open

Entries are now being accepted for the Walkey Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards. If you have had an exceptional piece of work published in the last year, now is time to work on your submission.

The Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards were established to recognise and reward the emerging generation of Australian journalistic talent.

The only event of its kind celebrating journalists aged 26 and under, the overall winner will receive a trip to visit media organisations either in the UK or the US plus $5,000.

The Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards spans five categories: print, television, radio, online and photography.

A panel of judges select a shortlist of three finalists in each category before choosing a winner in each category.

The judges will then select one of those category winners for the main accolade, Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year.

Entry is open to all Australian journalists, employed full-time or freelance who have had work published or broadcast through Australian media outlets between 15 March 2009 and 14 March 2010.

The entry deadline is 5pm, Friday 19 March, 2010. For more information visit the Walkley Awards website.
