Auction for epilepsy awareness

Former La Trobe University student Genevieve Taylor is hosting an auction to raise money for The Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria.

As part of La Trobe University’s Infinity Leadership Program, former La Trobe University student Genevieve Taylor is hosting an auction to raise money for The Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria.

The gala, which will be held on the 27th August at The Sebel, Albert Park, will include a three course meal, beer and wine, live entertainment and the auction. Auction items include signed football memorabilia, accommodation packages, The Footy Show tickets, hot air balloon ride tickets, as well as many others.

There will also be guests speakers from the university and the epilepsy foundation.

Taylor, who completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the Shepparton campus last year, is hoping to raise $15,000, with all proceeds going to the foundation.

Taylor has family members affected by epilepsy and wants to help raise awareness about the brain disorder, which she feels ‘many people know little about.’

The leadership program aims to provide current and former La Trobe University students with leadership skills. Participants then complete a minimum of 25 hours of community work to put the skills into practice.

‘From this program I am able to learn about the communication skills to use and not to use when interacting with people, especially colleagues in my workplace,’ Taylor says.  ‘I have also always wanted to organise an event like this one so this seemed like the perfect opportunity.’

Tickets cost $150 per person or $1500 for a table of 10. They can be purchased from Genevieve on 0437 588 184 or from The Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria on (03) 9805 9111.
