Do newspapers have a future?

Fairfax media's Chief Executive and Managing Director, Greg Hywood, is giving a talk tonight at the University of Melbourne.

Fairfax CEO Greg Hywood’s talk is titled: ‘If you ask me about the future of newspapers, you have asked the wrong question.’

It will be delivered tonight at 6.00pm at the University of Melbourne.

About Greg Hywood

Greg Hywood graduated with an economics degree from Monash University in 1975.  He completed his cadetship with the Australian Financial Review, and went on to work for the publication for a further 17 years.

In the early 1990s, he became the editor of the AFR before he became the publisher of the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

He has also worked in politics, where he was based in the Victorian Department of the Premier during the leadership of Steve Bracks.

He was the CEO of Tourism Victoria, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, and was then appointed the non-executive director of Fairfax Media, before being appointed the CEO in December 2010.
