Former FIFA Vice President Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein has accused FIFA boss Gianni Infantino of withholding prize money meant for the Jordan national team. 

Prince Ali, who’s currently the head of football in Jordan, stated in an X post that the team hasn’t received the $4.2 million in prize money they won at the 2025 Arab Cup.  

“The money our team should receive for having reached the final has not been delivered yet, while at the same time FIFA brags about how many billions they have in reserve,” he said.  

“The whole situation amounts to blackmail, and we refuse to give in to that,” he said. 

He also said he could not endorse Infantino going forward. 

The New York Post reported this morning that Infantino had reached out to Trump for his backing amid increasing pressure on his position. 

Infantino’s position has been under increasing scrutiny since he scrapped his proposal to sell minority stakes of FIFA competitions to private investors following the World Cup.  

He is expected to run for FIFA president again at the upcoming election in March. However, with his failed plan, and the accusation of failing to reward the Jordan National team with their prize money, key figures in football are starting to lose trust. 

As calls are being heard for Infantino to end his tenure, the result of FIFA’s upcoming crisis meeting will have all football fans on edge after months of controversy. 

The Times reported this morning that Infantino had called for a crisis meeting with his staff following months of controversy.
