La Trobe University to host asylum seeker forum

La Trobe’s ‘Ideas and Society Program’ will bring together three key Australians who have made their mark in pressing for more humane solutions to the asylum seeker crisis.

Leading commentators will give their views on the asylum seeker crisis at a La Trobe University public forum on Wednesday October 5.

They’ll address the question: ‘The asylum seeker crisis. Where to now?’

Professor Sandy Gifford, Director of La Trobe’s Refugee Research Centre will chair the discussion.

The panel features senior journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald David Marr, as well as the Director of the Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre, David Manne and Dr David Corlett the presenter of the SBS series Go Back to Where You Came From

The forum will be held from 11am to 12.30pm at the John Scott Meeting House, on the main Melbourne campus at Bundoora.
