A second Genesis gym was torched in Melbourne’s west within three days, with both incidents being treated as targeted attacks.

Emergency services were called to a business park on Hampstead Road in Maidstone at about 12:30am on Thursday following reports of a large fire.

The blaze caused significant damage to the Genesis gym and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu facilty downstairs. Victoria Police said there were no injuries, and the offenders fled before emergency crews arrived.

This comes after a similar arson attack at a gym on Sunshine Avenue in Taylors Lakes at 3:30am Tuesday morning.

Two masked offenders entered the gym and warned two people exercising inside to leave before pouring petrol. A cleaner working upstairs also escaped without injury.

Victoria Police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are linked, with investigations ongoing.
