Student journalists wanted to cover UN conference in Germany

The United Nations is offering student journalists the opportunity to cover its ‘Sustainable Societies; Responsive Citizens’ conference in Germany.

Up to 12 journalism students are wanted from around the world to cover the 2011 United Nations DPI/NGO conference on ‘Sustainable Societies; Responsive Citizens’. The conference will be held in Bonn, Germany from the 3rd to 5th of September.

It will focus on environmental sustainability, as well as the role of society and citizens in achieving progress, including reducing personal carbon footprints. For more information on the conference click here.

Print, broadcast, radio and online student journalists are all welcome to apply, however students must pay their own way to the conference.

Applicants should provide:

1. A cover letter listing any prior journalistic experience, information about your skills, contact information including email, Skype address and phone numbers, and why you are interested in covering this conference.

2. A résumé.

3. Two samples of previous journalistic reporting.

Successful applicants will have the chance to meet and interview government and UN officials, private sector speakers and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
