UEFA is set to withdraw its threat of boycotting the World Cup, and all European teams have confirmed to play in the upcoming Under 20 women’s World Cup.
This comes after UEFA was assured that FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s investment project wasn’t going forward.
President Infantino’s proposed plan included creating a new $20 billion commercial subsidiary called FIFA Forward Enterprise, which involves FIFA selling a stake of the World Cup to private investors to create long-term growth.
Officials are set to meet in Monaco on Friday to discuss the conclusion of the boycott.
European Powerhouses Spain, England, France, as well as Italy, Portugal and hosts Poland are now confirmed for the World Cup.
A FIFA spokesperson has confirmed in a statement that all eligible teams are now preparing for the upcoming tournament in Poland.
“FIFA is pleased that all qualified teams will be participating in the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup,” it said.
“FIFA strongly believes that football has the power to unite, even in challenging circumstances, and looks forward to welcoming all teams and players to Poland.”
The tournament is set to take place on September 5.
